Basic Rules
Games are played to 11 points, win by 2
Points can only be scored by the serving team
The ball must be served underhand and diagonally cross-court
The ball must bounce once on each side before volleys are allowed
The Kitchen (Non-Volley Zone)
The 7-foot zone on both sides of the net is called "the kitchen"
You cannot volley the ball while standing in the kitchen
You may enter the kitchen after the ball has bounced
Double Bounce Rule
When the ball is served, the receiving team must let it bounce before returning
The serving team must then let it bounce before returning
After these two bounces, the ball can be volleyed or played off the bounce
Serving Rules
Server must keep one foot behind the baseline
Serve is made underhand with paddle below waist
Ball must land in diagonal service court
Only one serve attempt is allowed
Scoring
Points are scored only on the serve
In doubles, both players serve before side out (except first serve of game)
Server calls score as: serving team score - receiving team score - server number
