Basic Rules

• Games are played to 11 points, win by 2
• Points can only be scored by the serving team
• The ball must be served underhand and diagonally cross-court
• The ball must bounce once on each side before volleys are allowed

The Kitchen (Non-Volley Zone)

• The 7-foot zone on both sides of the net is called "the kitchen"
• You cannot volley the ball while standing in the kitchen
• You may enter the kitchen after the ball has bounced

Double Bounce Rule

• When the ball is served, the receiving team must let it bounce before returning
• The serving team must then let it bounce before returning
• After these two bounces, the ball can be volleyed or played off the bounce

Serving Rules

• Server must keep one foot behind the baseline
• Serve is made underhand with paddle below waist
• Ball must land in diagonal service court
• Only one serve attempt is allowed

Scoring

• Points are scored only on the serve
• In doubles, both players serve before side out (except first serve of game)
• Server calls score as: serving team score - receiving team score - server number
